Health Benefits of Honey!

If you don’t have this in your kitchen right now you should probably stop reading this, drive to the store and grab at least 2-3 bottles. In all seriousness I have stressed the value of honey with my patients for many years. Honey is all natural and safe in everyone over the age of 1!

What is honey made of? It mainly contains sugar and water, in addition it contains many vitamins and minerals. It is also packed with antioxidants, amino acids and other micro nutrients. The sugars in honey itself are sweeter and give more energy than artificial sweeteners. 

Research shows Honey has anti-bacertial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. 

What is it good for and when to use it?

Cough: First and foremost honey is the best cough suppressant out there. Cough medicines can get expensive and rarely provide relief. For anyone over the age of 1, Honey is your new go to for cough control. Give it on a teaspoon, from honey sticks, or mix in a drink with water and lemon. No matter how you serve it up, Honey is really going to help.

Wound Healing: Many studies have shown honey to hugely beneficial in would healing. Especially for minor burns and cuts. You can use medical grade honey or raw honey applied on bandage and place directly on wound or burn.

Stomach flu: Studies have shown that honey when added to oral rehydration, children recover faster and have fewer bowel movements. Try mixing a teaspoon in drink of choice. Careful not to take too much though, excess surge can make diarrhea worse. 


Simple choice with so many uses! (Also great in homemade vinaigrette’s and smoothies but that’s for another day😉). Thank heaven for honey bees!🍯🐝

And while you are at it, support local and find honey from your region! There thought to be added benefits from local honey like helping to reduce local environmental allergies!
